Engagements

You're engaged, congratulations! You probably have a lot on your mind and with all of that, includes finding a photographer. Let me give you and your spouse an idea as to how my engagement sessions work and hopefully that'll ease your mind just a little bit. Curious about how my wedding sessions work? Click here.

An engagement session is like a date where I tag along with you two! Sounds perfect doesn't it? These sessions are quite fun because we get to focus on just you two for a couple of hours while also getting to know each other better, which is one of my favorite parts about what I do! Let me give you the specifics on how this session works.

How it Works

We will discuss more on location(s) after you have booked your session. Every couple is different so being able to come up with ideas on different locations for the session is always a fun thing to discuss. I love to travel so It doesn't necessarily have to be just in Watertown, but we can discuss more about this when the time comes. This is your time to get creative and let your personalities show because, after all, this is all about you two! Now if you are unsure about where to go, no worries! This is where I can help you guys find the perfect spot that best represents who you are.

Once the day comes, we can either meet at the location and start right away, or we can meet up somewhere like a café and just talk for a little while before we head out. I recommend meeting before the session for a little while as it usually eases anxiety and allows us to get to know each other better before the shoot. I know being in front of the camera isn't always fun, but this way, you can get more comfortable beforehand while also getting to know a little bit about me. This makes us a better team in the future as well!

Booking

With these sessions, couples are looking to use photos for save-the-dates, use them for a wedding book, or even just for frames to hang around the house. Other times, it is just for the fun of it because, after all, I think we all need professional photos of ourselves at least once in our lifetime! With the engagement session, you are going to want to get this done well ahead of your wedding in order to have enough time to use the images as needed.

If you are booking a wedding with me, you will get an engagement session included with your wedding package at a better value, however, if you are looking for just an engagement session, we will discuss costs and what's included with the session. If you are from out of state and are going to be traveling to South Dakota, great and welcome! If you are wanting to take some photos somewhere touristy like the Badlands, I can make it work! There will be additional travel fees involved but I will discuss that with you when necessary. Couples like to do just an engagement session if they are unsure on where the wedding will take place or if they're not quite ready to book a wedding session and that's perfectly okay! I understand there's a lot to prepare for so I will do my best to fit your needs.
